I have a SunRunner with the 12 HP Briggs engine-- it is connected by belt to a 5 speed peerless gearbox, then from the gearbox sprocket to a differential sprocket there is the roller chain-- Question-- what size is the roller chain?? #35??, #40?? etc.... Thanks!!!

The number of the chain is specified in 1/8ths of an inch. In other words a #40 chain is 4.0 x .125 = .500 All you need to do is to measure the distance between the pins in the chain. Take the distance measured and divide by .125 to get the chain size. You must also move the decimal point one place to the right to get the chain number.

Measure from sprocket tooth tip to sprocket tooth tip. Do it on the largest diameter sprocket. Should get you close enough to determine the chain size. Have never done it this way but an educated guess says it should work. Let us know what you find.

Site programming updates were made 3/23/2024. As a result some things have changed including dues payment options. We will continue maintenance and work with technicians to regain credit card payment option and clear up minor challenges. On positive it appears attaching pictures is now easier. Good day. Gene
