carbuff713
This morning my wife and I were replacing the starter on my car, when my neighbor drove my with his Craftsman ZTR mower. About the time my wife commented is did not sound good, it made a loud bang and stopped. It is leaking oil and engine ia locked up -- the mower is only about a year old. I have read that Kohler Courage motors have had problem -- does anyone know the details? David

TimJr
Oops, yes, there have been many problems with the "bucket engine". Gets that name because the lower part of the engine is deeper than the upper - good thought because it puts the gasket well above the oil level, unlike most other vertical shaft engines. There have been cam problems etc. with them so far. I really think the 'bucket engine" nickname came from the fact that once you tear it down to try to fix it, you can't because it's junk, and you throw all the parts in a bucket to take them to the recycling center!
