mmischni 0 Posted May 21, 2007 Hi fellows, When engaging the PTO on my landlord with the mower deck, I get a somewhat loud noise and can feel a bit of a kick in the lever. The noise is like a loud CLACK. Just a single clack, not a rattle. I can almost imagine it is the sound of gear lash being taken out really hard, but I am not sure. If I engage slowly, it still grabs hard at some point. If I engage fast, it is the same, but sometimes throws the belt. Engaging without the belt to the deck does not yield the noise, so it is related to the heftier load being put on... The pulleys are pretty rusty (so probably lots of "grab") but the belts are brand new. I am most concerned if this means worn BGB gears or if this would be considered a common trait of this PTO. Or should I just polish the pulleys and call it good? Thanks for the advice, Matt
gregc 3 Posted May 21, 2007 It's going to grab hard if the pulleys are rusty. I would polish them as you said and try it.
