BroadmoorMan 0 Posted May 28, 2007 Hello. I picked up this deck yesterday and its in okay shape. The only real problem besides the belt is that the idler pulley rubs against the housing. I'm not sure how to fix it. Any help is always appreciated.
msiebern 0 Posted May 28, 2007 It appears to be a 36" MFG NO. 1690023. Here is a clip from the parts breakdown. Make sure stud 21 is tight and straight. Make sure someone did not replace the stud with a regular bolt. Verify that there is a washer #22 installed properly. Is the stud or the tube on part 20 worn to allow excess clearance and allowing the idler to lean over? Washer #22 is a standard 5/16 flat washer.
tec2484 1 Posted May 28, 2007 On my old deck the metal that the stud goes though was flexing and it would hit sometimes. I found a couple of larger od washers and solved the problem.
toad270 15 Posted May 29, 2007 another possibilty is the wrong belt or the belt is strecthed
Vinnie_A 3 Posted May 29, 2007 I had the same problem on 2 of my decks and like Mike shows in his parts list it was always part #20 that was worn.
toomanytractors 0 Posted May 29, 2007 Make sure that the underside of the deck where part #21 attaches is good and strong. Many times I,ve seen these weak from rust and allows the bolt to stand at an angle. The fix: weld a large flat washer or piece of plate on the underside of the deck and redrill the hole. good luck with your repair--Dave
