Sunstar PTO question

Recommended Posts

Well, just when the grass is growing fast, the front PTO on my Sunstar Kohler Magnum 20HP goes out. I have both a front and rear PTO. I turn the switch for the rear and I can hear it click to engage -- that one works just fine. When I engage the switch for the front PTO, the Front PTO light switch indicates that it's on, I don't hear the click where it engages and I get nothing. From what I can tell, it seems there are two wires running into the PTO. One looks to be a ground, and the other must be the power to engage. It just worked fine last week -- is there something I'm missing here? I don't use the rear PTO, so is there a way I could temporarily swap parts? Thanks for the input.

BLT
Have you checked the gap of the front PTO? It's in operators manual.

Might be your interlock module too. Mine did the same thing a few times when my module started to go bad. Good news is - all of these parts are listed on Ebay right now.

I agree with BLT. Mine was doing the same thing and adjusted the PTO per the operators manual and works fine.

Took apart the PTO clutch and redid a bunch of wiring and things are functioning again. What exactly does the interlock module do? Does it control spark or power to the ignition module or does it just control PTO, seat, lights, etc.? I'm wondering if that could be causing some of my intermittent lack of spark problems. Thanks, D
