Chris727 1,849 Posted June 2, 2007 Hi. I am replacing the sump gasket on a 19hp briggs vertical twin on a 1995 Craftsman and the new gasket came pre-sealed from the factory but it is uneven, some areas have none while others have an excessive amount. I had been told to stay away from using RTV on surfaces that set the crankshaft endplay but is seems the factory wasn't worried. I was wondering what kind of sealer I should apply to even it up or if I should remove all of briggs sealer and put a light coat of something else on it? Thanks in advance. Marty-MN 0 Posted June 3, 2007 I use blue permatex sparingly on side to hold gaskets
firefoxz1 4 Posted June 3, 2007 I would install it dry if it has the applied sealer on it already. The heavier spot are probably problem areas that they are trying to alleviate.
