2fulhund 0 Posted June 3, 2007 Hello All, Does anyone have the low down on a replacement field coil for our trusty S/G's. I have an S/G with an open field and have searched high and low. Any insights will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Semper Fi, Gregory
RenegadeJ 0 Posted June 3, 2007 In my opinion, I think you may be better off to replace the entire starter-generator. I think there is one on E-bay right now. Sometimes they can be picked up pretty reasonable. Just be sure to watch what kind of tractor it came from as some of them turn the opposite direction. Roy 0 Posted June 3, 2007 A starter/generator shop can order field coil sets (both starter and generator field coils) or only the generator coil. Just make sure you get one for a CW generator. Ace, among others, makes them. Member Al Eden and several of our sponsors should also them available. Be wise to check the voltage regulator when you get an operable generator to make sure the field coil didn't burn out due to excess current from a faulty regulator. A site search for starter/generator (or S/G) should turn up several articles you will find beneficial.
