mrfixit 0 Posted June 4, 2007 I have Simplicty Soveriegn 7100. I have what appears to be a power issue. When mower deck is engaged and going up hill the tractor boggs down to the point that it engine coughs ans almost stalls. Mower is free and not bound. Any ideas? Also does anyone have the instructions on how to fill the Hydro/Tranny with fluid? I am told it is a big production? I am new to Simplicty.

mrfixit 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Filling the transmission has been explained to me that you have to jack up the tractor and run for and hour or more with wheels free turning. Also, here is more info. Replaced Fuel and Air filter. I tried cleaning the carb, but I do notice the linkage on the carb may be functioning with erratic movement. The throttle moves the lever that is connected to the cable. But the accelerator linkage below (on carb) has a erratic movement when accelerated. Simplicity Sovereign Lawn and Garden Tractor tractor Mfg.#1692943. It is a 1997 model The deck is a 48" cut and the model # is 1691219 This tractor has been re-powered with a top of the line Kohler CH25S The engine spec# is 68544 This motor has the built in oil cooler, the smart spark system and the accelerator pump. mrfixit 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Thank you for the input. I know the manual does not explain tranny filling procedure that I was told to use. That is why I am asking if anyone else has heard this? >Filling the transmission has been explained to me that you have to jack >up the tractor and run for and hour or more with wheels free turning. UCD 14 Posted June 5, 2007 The correct procedure is described in the manual. Disregard shadetree rumors you hear they most certainly don't know what they are talking about.
Mike 0 Posted June 5, 2007 I would check throttle shaft for excessive play, my 916 coughs like that on bumps because of the worn throttle shaft. Mike
mrfixit 0 Posted June 5, 2007 I thought I should add that when I reach the top of a hill under load that the engine revs on its own and continues as you go down hill. Engine also operates close to normal on the level.
MikeES 466 Posted June 5, 2007 Mrfixit, sounds like a governor issue. Throttle is not opening to manage or maintain rpm. Your linkage issue is also a clue to the governor not working properly.
mrfixit 0 Posted June 6, 2007 Mike S., how do you start to resolve a governor issue? or test to verify the governor is working?
