mgodzilla
Howdy Boys, I just bought a restored 1972 Allis Chalmers 416H (hydrostatic) with a working ARC 515 loader and a sleeve hitch. It is real clean and runs smoke free. Love the sound of that Kohler single. I'll post some pics if anyone wants to see a 416 hyrdo with a factory loader. I don't know if that is a rare combo or not. I was surprised to find that the unit came with a complete second parts tractor minus the Kohler and seat - that should be handy. This is my first post here but I have many other units that I restore to working condition and use regularly. My fist issue is that their seems to be too little space on the stick at neutral and I am always jumping into reverse when I mean to just slow down. This unit has no z gate. Also reverse seems real short and underpowered as if I am not getting all the sick into it. I see an electrical switch under the seat that the tranny linkage engages poorly which also may need adjusting. I am looking for information on mower decks and implements that work with the 416 unit even if they are Simplicity. The AC 416 was an AC only model but I am sure some stuff must swap so any tips on that would be greatly appreciated.

Roy
Nice. ^ Does the loader frame run full length beneath the tractor? Re: Short neutral The hydro linkage may need adjusting and/or have some wear. I'm not familiar with the 400 series tractors but think there are others here that can point you to the adjustment procedure. If the know the manufacturing number for the tractor you can download an Operator's Manual and Parts Manual from the Simplicity web site.
ambler
I believe your AC product number is 1600261 Owners manual http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_100_1504_00_LT_A.pdf Call Simplicity for repair manual. Should be a vickers hydrostat. Nice machine
mgodzilla
Roy - Yes the frame runs all the way to the back. The loader pump sits buy the left rear tire and is pully driven. It is supposed to be a factory unit - looks like it is. I heard that this is not like the Simplicy 515 loader and that ARC made loaders for Allis and Wheelhorse but not Simplicty. I need some wieght to help with steering and traction. I might try sleeve hitch weights or make somthing that slides into the ends of the loader frame in the rear. Ambler - I have just started reading up on the tranny in a copied manual but many of the pics are hard to make out. I'll try looking at the pdf links. mgodzilla
I read Al's post on gtgregs weak reverse question. An excellent read for hydro tranny users. I have a feeling that my linkage may need some work as Al suggested. That may also be my issue with the almost no neutral also. I am taking off the rear metal this evening/weekend to see what I can do.
