sickle mower

how much will the sickle bar mower tilt up or down when running? I've got a section of roadside embankment that is a bit scary to mow and already claimed one newer briggs (tilt 'em enough and they don't get oil, apparently). Can you mow driving on the level with the sickle bar up or down some?

Now there's an interesting mental picture. Will it mow angled down some? 10-20 degrees or so -Don

I mowed my neighbors ditch and the bad thing is that it is so heavy it pulls the tractor down into the ditch. It will cut on a down angle though.

They say it will mow from "NEAR" vertical to 40 degrees below horizontal. http://www.simpletractors.com/simplicity/new_in_1962/sickle_bar.htm

I can tell you for sure, that if the tractor is on the high side and the mower is hanging low (like in a ditch). You will need plenty off weight(such as wheel weights ect.)to counter balance the sickle.I have 2 sets of wheel weights and duels on my B210 and it's still a little tippsy on steep goings.
