skunkhome 0 Posted June 30, 2007 My younger brother and my niece were in town for the weekend for a wedding but I believe they really came down to help me officially celebrate the coming out of my 1974 Simplicity 3414S. Unfortunately there wasn't much grass to cut as I had already cut two times this week, but we cut the 9mm of growth which has occurred since the day before yesterday. All systems are now working with exception of the generator. I even mounted a work light on the back. My brother at the wheel...He says it brings back good old memories and has actually wet his appetite for one these old tractors. He loved the tractor but hates the ole Wheelhorse seat. (says it is something akin to sitting on a rock. While we were all out side working hard on cutting the grass my son who went on the T.H.T. (tractor hauling trip) to Missouri with me also showed up to check it out. He was an honored guest as he invested two days in helping me retrieve the tractor. My son-n-law, daughter and granddaughter also came over but my son-n-law being an insurance salesman would not ride. On the other hand my granddaughter was ready and willing. My granddaughter ready to take a spin.
gtwygreg 0 Posted June 30, 2007 Phil, I had a problem with the generator on my unit until I polarized my regulator. This has to be done every time the battery is disconnected. It's a pretty quick fix. Is your generator light always on? If the generator cranks and the light stays on that might your problem. T\I'm sure there are a few threads on how to do it here. rsnik 1 Posted July 1, 2007 Hi skunkhome, I remember the tractor with the old lights. The soda can lights make for a very handsome looking tractor on a 3414.

We really don't have much trouble with thatch down in the deep south regardless the 9mm clippings. You have to remember that we only have two seasons... Summer and Mardi Gras! My brother and I both think it has an unfortunate resemblance to a Farmall tractor with the red paint, black decals and cream colored light pods. That, my friend, is totally unacceptable if you have Persian orange blood running through your veins. I am going to have to remedy that bit of mistaken identity in the near future with a nice poppy orange paint job.
