Model 19 Carburetor Help??

Recommended Posts

Bunky
I have a Model 19 briggs and the Carb or linkage is not right, Throttle wouldn't open and close all the way when I got it So I had a parts motor and took the rod off the Gov, arm and changed it, Well now the throttle shaft won't close... Here's what I have for an intake elbow,

and here are the 2 rods, the one on the left (approx 6 1/2 ") is the one off the parts motor and the other is the one that came with the engine and it's all bent out of shape and shorter then the one on the left.. The Gov arm moves approx 3/4 off an inch... Can some one tell me if I have the right rod and intake elbow?? or what I need...

Any help would be appreciated...

Push the throttle on the carb to WOT position. Push the governor arm to WOT position. Hold the two in that position and made a rod that fits the holes. That is the length you need. A metal coat hanger works fine. I have made several linkages this way. Both tractors that I took to Spring Fling had these homemade linkages and several people can verify that they ran good (when there was fuel in the tank).
