Nick 0 Posted July 9, 2007 This had been deleted when the servers were moved so I thought I post again. I did some research on the reproducing of the paints Simplicity used on their 60's model garden tractors by doing research here, through a PPG paint website, and through a PPG dealers computer. Here is what I have come up with. There may be different years and models this paint was used on on. Red/Orange: "Competition Orange" used on 1969 Chevy Corvette, & Camaro "Poppy Red" used on 1964-1969 Ford Mustang (Member Jim McDonald used this color for his nicely restored 725) http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true&TOPIC_ID=36756 "Vermillion Red" used on 1964 Ford Mustang (Member firefoxz1 used this as a comparison to the old paint on his Broadmoor) http://www.simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=82917 All these colors are the same, and just use different names. The PPG Paint Code # is 60449. White: "Wimbledon White" used on 1964 Ford Mustang. Also called "Polar White" & "Artic White" depending if it was for a Lincoln or Mercury. The PPG paint code is # 8378. Happy Painting...
rlschoemer 0 Posted July 19, 2007 Thinking of having some rims powder coated. Does anyone know of the RAL paint code that is close to Simplicity 'White'. I will ask RAL what they have close to the PPG numbers, maybe they have a cross reference. Thanks
