Hair-Bear-Bunch Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi, I'm about to start a top end rebuild on a 12hp horizontal crank Tecumseh engine in a Roper tractor. Can anyone help with the headbolt torque ect and the valve clearances please? Thanks.
firefoxz1 Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hello. We would really need to know what the model number of the engine is.
Hair-Bear-Bunch Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 Would be the number stamped onto the cowling or is it likely to be somewhere else? I'll have a look later and see what I can find. Thanks, Rob.
Hair-Bear-Bunch Posted July 19, 2007 Author Posted July 19, 2007 Ok, found the number; OH140160039BSER8046E Thanks.
firefoxz1 Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Flywheel: 50-55 ft#; head bolts, 15-20 ft# and connecting rods: 85-110 inch#. .010 intake and.020 exhaust. Edit: Overhead valve engine should be .005 intake and .010 exhaust. http://www.smallenginesuppliers.com/html/engine-specs/tecumseh/Tecumseh_Cast-Iron_Engines_Service_Information.pdf
Hair-Bear-Bunch Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Thats great! I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks, Rob.
