skunkhome 0 Posted July 20, 2007 I have some pretty sloppy deck rollers on my mower causing it to cut pretty low. I have been looking at some on e-bay but thought I should try something to tighten up the ones I have now. Upon looking at the outer rollers it was evident that the bushings had been long gone and the rollers were pretty wollowed out. I found a piece of PVC pipe in 5/8" ID with an OD of 15/16". I ground the pipe down on the side of my bench grinder until the OD of the pipe percisely fit the hole in the rollers then inserted them and reinstalled on mower. I am still interested in buying new rollers but this may hold me for a while. I am no longer scalping the yard.
Roy 0 Posted July 20, 2007 When I bushed my rollers with the 5/8" ID PVC I bored the rollers to fit the pipe OD and drove the pipe in. The PVC makes great roller bushings. Congratulations on a good fix.
