perry 1 Posted July 25, 2007 i never seen one of these with a 3PT hitch. this is a old MTD with a twinn cyl 16HP horizonal engine. must be one of the first mtds i guess ?. this was sitting blanketed by a big'ol pine tree. everything moves freely. even the throttle & choke operate smooth. guy said its been sitting there for years. its one of those ran when i parked it deals. what year would you all say this is ?. i think it might be a variable speed also. PatRarick 1 Posted July 25, 2007 Nope, it's not one of the first, but it is one of the last of the heavier MTD's. There was an even heavier model. I'm guessing this one to be about a mid to late 1980's model.
Chris727 1,849 Posted July 25, 2007 Interesting machine you have there.
MPH 12 Posted July 28, 2007 I'm wild guessing it to be an 80's model. Looks a lot newer then my mid 70's mtd I got last year 2 miles from home.
swede 0 Posted August 1, 2007 It looks to be the same as a White GT16?? I used to have. They were a heavy built tractor but very clumsy to operate. I used it for mowing rocks, dirt, old fence posts and whatever else was lurking in the old farmyard. It sure saved on my good tractors until I got things cleaned up!! Simplicity314 0 Posted August 1, 2007 That's an interesting hitch for that tractor. Is it homemade? I would think that machine would take a sleeve hitch.
comet66 0 Posted August 1, 2007 Is that an old Goldwing hiding under that tarp?

Yes, it's the same as the White GT16. White lawn and garden tractors were built by MTD. MTD purchased the White name when White was purchased by AGCO and still builds lawn tractors under the White name.
