B210 hydraulic ram seal

When I pulled my ram apart, I noticed that the piston o ring also has 2 reddish rings of gasket like material on either side of it. The replacement o ring itself is listed in the rebuild artical under resources but there`s no mention of this gasket material. Does anyone know if this is needed or is just the oring enough. thanks

On one of mine there were black teflon/nylon backup rings on either side of the o-ring. They had actually pulled partly out of the groove and so weren't doing much to seal. I just used an o-ring when I reassembled and haven't had any problems. Kraig

Did you use the size listed in the resource article table, or did you oversize?

Use the one listed in the resource article. It is the correct one.
