Those here commenting on the large frame tractor are specifically referring to the Simplicity built tractors. The 300 and 400 series tractors were a response of Allis Chalmers to an Antitrust court order which required the A-C owned Simplicities and the A-C branded tractors to be manufactured in separate facilities and to not have any interchangeable implements. When the antitrust legislation was repealed in late 1974. A-C closed their Lexington plant and went back to producing both A-C's and Simplicities out of the Port Washington plant. Aside from the power plants, some minor sheet metal deferences and Paint they were the same tractors with interchangeable implements.

I would not argue that point with you but the intent was for there to be no cross brand interchangeability between Simplicity and A-C in the early 70's. Since you own a 416 you know that there are many familiar basic design traits but the 300 & 400 series tractors are very different from any Allis before or after.
