lndscpr 0 Posted August 27, 2007 is the kt17s the correct replacement motor for the 7117? I have a line on one. what other motors can match up or easily be adapted. I have a 14 hp kohler sitting on the bench right now. Is this feasible?
RayS 79 Posted August 27, 2007 Yes, the kt17 is the same that is in the 7117. Single cylinder cast iron kohlers and briggs both will go in wthout problems since that is what they put in them. kohler commands will also go in them. Al sells a command kit. olcowhand 0 Posted August 27, 2007 Make sure it's a "Series II" engine. The series I had a real nasty way of throwing rods, especially if you use on inclines.
lndscpr 0 Posted August 27, 2007 seeing that my whole yard is an incline i had better check that. All i know is I am looking at a KT17S. Not sure if the S is right.
MikeES 448 Posted August 31, 2007 'S' Means electric start.

rs07 25 Posted September 5, 2007 If the price is right on the KT17s, then go for it, otherwise I would consider repowering with a Kohler Command V-Twin. They are a reliable engine as well.
lndscpr 0 Posted September 6, 2007 i picked up the kt17s for a good price. good compression. fairly clean motor. I thought about putting the 14hp i have in there but this kt17 came up.
lndscpr 0 Posted September 6, 2007 hah, the motor is good but the tractor i was gonna put it in turned out to be a little more gone than i wanted to deal with. Now i have a 14hp and a 17 hp in the shed. Has anyone tried to put a kt17 into a 7112????will it fit without hacking the frame???
