Carb Woes - Soveriegn 9112V

Been lurking for a while (almost a year) and am finally dusting off the carcass of my Soveriegn 9112V. My first problem to overcome is that it appears that a part of the carb is missing. There is a worn, tapped out hole at the bottom corner of the chassis. Looks like some sort of valve or adjustment should go in these but it missing. The threads are pretty well stripped out. And now for the questions: 1. What was supposed to be there? 2. Was it necessary? 3. How hard is it to source a replacement carb? TIA - Gary in Massena.

Well, I'm not looking for a carb yet... Still hoping that the one I have can be resurrected. Thanks.

Here is a pic of the unit. The missing part is supposed to go in the port at the lower left.
Edit: Sorry, only dues paying members may post pictures or links to pictures.

Gary That link to the pic will get deleted because you are not a dues paying member. It's only $10 a year and well worth it. Now I will paste a post I started a few min ago and something crashed somewhere on the www. Heres a link to the benefits of being a dues paying member. http://simpletractors.com/club2/membership_benefits.asp I'm guessing what parts you are talking about but I would guess numbers 113, 114 and 118. If thats the parts and where they screw in is striped time for a replacement carb. Ebay and/or a want ad in the classifieds http://simpletractors.com/club2/classifieds.asp?sectionid=5&area=3 is your best bet. If not those part what parts are they?

Also someone else may have a fix for it that I don't know about yet.

Yep. Those appear to be the missing parts. Time to post a wanted ad it looks like. Thanks for the help. And I have a feeling that I'll be plunking down the $10. For this project it will be worth it. Thanks - Gary

Gary Just one warning!!! I started looking for info on a 728 a few years ago. I now own 11 or 12 right now and that can change as fast as the weather in Michigan. They are VERY addictive!!!:D:D:D

Yeah. I suspect that could be a problem. Growing up my dad had a IH Cub Cadet Model 71 that I learned to tinker with. Lots of fun and technologically not too complicated. Simplicity's are pretty popular in this area due to an active dealer so I expect that it won't be too hard to start picking them up if I really catch the bug.
