CHolmes 0 Posted August 30, 2007 I found a 616 AC tractor the other day and not sure what to think of it. It has a vertical shaft Briggs, belt drive Hydro. It is quite small in size which is surprising. Are these "real" AC tractors? It seems a little MTDish for lack of a better word. I think the vertical shaft is what throws me. Are they a good machine or did AC have a weak moment?
MarksA-C 93 Posted August 30, 2007 that models the same as a simplicity 5116 I think.
AllisPhreak 0 Posted August 30, 2007 I have the Allis 616 Special, and as long as you throw chains & weights on the tractor, you would be surprised what it will push. I have a 3000 sq ft driveway, and it cleaned up a single three foot snowfall last winter in just under 4 hours -- with a blower and plow.
andrewk 0 Posted August 30, 2007 They have their quirks, like anything else, but they are far superior to a cheap "big box" mower. They don't have the same "bulletproof" feel that the older ones have, but like mentioned earlier, you will be surprised at what it can do. Andy
Jovee 0 Posted August 31, 2007 They're good little tractors despite their size. They could have put the hydro lever in a better place though
