jmanpuller Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Hey what can i do to get the most out of a hydro for pulling. Seen a guy pull for exhibition with a hydro with a 4 cylinder car motor and he took it down to the end before he burned out the drive belt so i know they can take it. I thought there could be a way to open them up so they would maintain steady pressure from the pump? Any experience with tweaking the hydro would be grateful Thanks!
MikeES Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Jan, the hydro will work if you can keep the hydro at full speed. Anytime you slow the hydro down you take torque away from the tires. For pulling you need full power and torque to the wheels. I have been pulling for 10 years and have yet to see a hydro competitive other than the big Legacy diesel or JD X5** diesel. But those are over 1300# and most pulls don't have a class that heavy.
jmanpuller Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Thanks for your info. I think I'll find a 3 speed and change it. Jman
