Bike 1, "Fire Police Special" Bicycle Restoration

Recommended Posts

Nick
Since I won't be able to do any tractor restorations for awhile, I though I show you one of my other projects. It's a bike restoration. A couple of the guys at the firehouse got together earlier this year and quickly threw together a "Fire Police Bike" nicknamed "Bike 1" as a joke for me. :O I decided after talking with a few of the guys, it was decided I would make the bike look more professional so I started taking it apart this past Monday. It has been completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal. It then will repainted. Custom decals will be made with the fire departments name, Fire Police, Bike 1, and Dial 911 decals will match the same as the trucks. The colors of the bike will be "Safety Yellow" (same color of the trucks) for the frame, "Gloss White" for the front fork, and the rear rack, and "Graphite Gray" for the handle bar, seat post brake calipers and rims. It will also get some reflective pin stripping, The wiring will be put through the bikes tubing, and two department patches sewn into the bag on the back. It will be used for department functions, and parades. Here are some pics: As received:

Striped back to a normal bike, decals removed:

Everything Dissembled, empty can of "Safety Yellow" paint on the second shelf will be the color

Frame and fork in first coat of primer, handlebar and seat post in 1st coat of paint

I'll post more pics as this project progresses.

Sounds like fun to me. John I still have my Schwinn Continental from 1973 which I bought new after cleaning bean fields all summer during the summer when I was in grade school. I restored it once even having the chrome rechromed.

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
