Hows it look/belt guides

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, This is the new to me 6216 I got off ebay last week. It has tranny probs according to prev. owner. I found the primary belt broken and literally tangled with the secondary belt. The center pulley wall on the variator was seized and wouldn't move without tremendous force. So... I've replaced the primary belt, (a true blue belt, dealer here in town didn't have a Simplicity belt in stock), I've cleaned the variator pulley, have the center wall moving and spinning freely and very well. It does have a very very slight wobble when rocked on the center hub, I'd say less than 1/256"...very slight. The prev. owner said he did have the tranny apart, as you can see from the fresh sealant in the pics. When I talked to him though he had no idea what the variator pulley was and I don't think he had ever heard of a belt stop. So I'm not sure what to think. Please look at my pics and tell me if every thing looks in place. I set the belt stops at the engine pulley 1/16th from belt. I didn't find that in the manual so I guessed. Does the pulley alignment look ok? I don't know how far this guy had it apart and I've never delt with a tranny on these garden tractors. I'm just a guy with grass to cut and having fun learning about these older tractors and how to work on them. I'm not sure if the belt broke after his repair job or was the problem to begin with. Probably after from bad adjustment and I don't want the same thing to happen to me and my new beltB)

Thanks Steve, I'm glad too! One more question though guys... I really had to loosen the nut on the clutch arm alot to get the clutch pedal measurement to 5 1/2" from the front of the footrest. It did stick out of the sleeve about an 1" or so as can be seen in these pics. After adjustment its about one thread inside sleeve. Is the true blue belt too large? Its 54". Or is there another adjustment I don't know about? Thanks

That would probably explain the difficulty in adjusting and why I thought it seemed fast... 3rd gear about blew me off the seat. Thats the second time I ended up with the wrong belt from my local place. He always compensates me, no complaints there. First time he didn't have a Simplicity belt. I may end up ordering one from Jack's.

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
