Nice tractor and Welcome to the Club!!! To answer your question, no I haven't seen that on any of my orange ones, It could have been some sort of primer. All of my orange tractors were bare metal, beneath the orange.

Patrick, first off welcome! Please use other adjective to describe your enthusiasm. Even thought you didn't spell out the word, we strive on a G rated site. I hope you understand. Again, welcome.

my first tractor is a Big Ten. it is predominantly orange but patches of yellow are visible. it has had two slightly different shades of yellow that appear to be complete paint jobs, not just touch up. where i have removed parts to repair them the underlying metal is bare. the 2012 landlord is orange i originally thought simplicity's were yellow and a-c' were orange. now i think the year may have somrthing to do with the color. tractor three will be orange because that is what i had when i started overhauling it

Simplicities are orange, the early ACs are yellow, the later ones (after 1971) were orange. I have seen some green Deutz-Allis with orange paint under the green. I assume that they were left overs when DA changed to green, and had Simplicity repaint some of the parts.

Powermax series, Simplicity 4040, 4041, 9020 and Allis Chalmers 616, 620, 720 were never Yellow, neither Simplicity or Allis Chalmers. Only Allis Chalmers B series were yellow.
