Starter-Generator ? Polarized?

Am working on a starter generator from a 7016. I have a service manual for 1919-1981 B&S engines. I must have missed polarization for generators or its not there. Must the generator be polarized and would I use a jumper lead from the regulator battery B terminal to the regulator armature "Arm" "Gen" terminal with the engine stopped? Stan

Hi, These units are automatically polarized the first time they are in Start mode. Al Eden

Thanks for the information. I thought that the generator might not need polarization, but did not want to find out the hard way.:I Stan
