Powermax fuel starve

My 4040 runs till the bowl emptys. Original float was cracked, so replaced and set height. Sometimes it will run an hour, sometimes 30 seconds. Is the fuel pickup in the tank filtered? I have a new clear inline filter and needle and seat apear to be working. Maybe fuel pump is bad. If I crank engine with gas line off, it pumps fine. Maybe I will convert to electric. Any ideas?

my wager: seat sticking or float hinge hardware sticking. it's where you were working and not much else it could be with fuel flowing happy when hose is pulled. but I've been wrong before. I'd pull the bowl and put a fairly clean bit of fuel hose on the carb, blow gently and play with the bowl (also gently). it should shut off and open promptly and without any hang ups. at this point if no problem found you put it back together, and maybe it works fine rest of its little metal life.
