My tractor moves slower than normal in reverse. Forward seems to be fine. The lever seems a little stiff also when pulling it toward full reverse. I've checked the normal issues of binding linkage and performed a tranmission purge as noted in the manual. All to no avail. I don't see anyway to verify the transmission fluid level. Has anyone experienced this problem?

Welcome to the site Mark. Look's like you aren't too far away from me. I haven't had your problems but maybe some of this will help. I'm not sure what the MFG number of your tractor is, but I'll guess that it's 1693694. If so, your transmission should be a Tuff Torq K51. If you will get the model numbers off the transmission you can go to http://www.tufftorq.com/newmain.asp and email them any questions you might have. They can give you instructions and pictures on how to change the oil. You can also see a detailed drawing of your transmission and order parts from them. Also, I believe they are now suggesting that when you change oil you can/should use 5w50 synthetic oil instead of 10w30. Here's a manual on replacing a K56 transmission that shows how to fill with oil, but I don't think one is available from Simplicity for the K51. http://www.simplicitytechpubs.com/6767PRINT/PDF_files/TP_200_2283_01_SK_SMA.pdf

Gregc, Thanks for the info. You're "spot on" as the British say with the mfg number. It is a 1693694. You are also correct in that the transmission is a Tuff Torq K51. This is acutally an elderly friend's machine and I'm trying to help him out. I'll have to check on the transmission number and access the website. The owner told me that this first occurred shortly after he purchased the tractor and it took the dealer a couple tries to get it corrected. He doesn't know what they did, but it worked for a couple years. I'll update you on progress.

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
