Boney 0 Posted September 18, 2007 Thinking of getting a dethatcher any comments from those that have used them as to what to get and what to stay away from ? Thank for any help
ehertzfeld 1 Posted September 18, 2007 I heard that a plug or a core type is better than the ones that just have a rod. I would look at the ones that are a spreader as well.
Simpleton7016 2 Posted September 18, 2007 I have a revitalizer which essentially functions as a quasi dethatcher. It functions fine, but I don't use it but once per year. If you are talking about the front dethatcher, good luck. I have only seen one available once. They are pretty rare, but I think thay are slick. ehertzfeld 1 Posted September 18, 2007 Oops, I was thinking you wanted a aerator. Sorry, disregard my last post.:I:o):D I think Simplicity still make ones that mount to the front of a tractor, but the pull behinds are a lot cheaper. Sears has a few.
wilm169 1 Posted September 18, 2007 I still have one front mount available new in the box, well the box is in bad shape, but I have a NOS one might need some modifying to fit large frame tractor.
DMedal 1 Posted September 19, 2007 I'm curious - why is the front one better? I have a front one off another brand of tractor I got as part of another deal, all summer I never even got around to unpacking it. (I think it is green). There's still time for one run before winter. gregc 3 Posted September 19, 2007 With the front one you can dethatch and then vacuum in one pass. Here's a former member's setup using an EZ Rake and vacuum.
gwiseman 1,558 Posted September 19, 2007 I have a pull behind (JD) dethatcher. Like it. Hook it to the b-10 and use the Conquest to mow/vac the the clippings.
