Deck Roller Bracket & Bail Repair

Recommended Posts

Roy
Pictures are of the repaired deck roller bar brackets from by B-1. Due to problem with continually bending the RH end of the roller bar I cut it loose from the bracket and allowed it to turn. This resulted in worn holes and a "low" cutting height. Brackets with set collars welded on. Plan to keep the shaft from turning with the set screws. Note the extent of the hole wear.

Anvil and hammer for straightening a bent roller bar.

Full length PVC bushings to repair worn roller holes.

Deck bail was cracked on the RH side at the hanger bolt. Is the second time I've had to repair this problem. Think it is caused by "kissing" things too hard when trimming close.

Now I have to clean and paint the metal parts. Ugh, I hate painting. :(

Nice job.Are you drilling out these rollers on a lathe or with a regular drill? I had mine done on a lathe in a friends machine shop that I no longer have access to and I wolud like ti do another set. Thanks

I notice on some decks, there is a small gusset plate where the hanger bolt welds to the bail. I have rewelded these a few times when converting a foot dragger deck to clear the runnung board on a rbt.

Gregc, Good idea but I'll have to prep them for painting first. Vennia_A, Did the bushings years ago. Think I had a machine shop bore them. But, I also remember drilling the rollers on my 7013S with a hand drill. Had a hard time with them. Cleaned up the bushing ID's this time on my lathe. richp, Thanks for reminding me about the gussets. Is a good time to add them. Anyone have a picture? I have seen repairs done with a split tube welded over the original tube. Thought I would first try w/o a tube. mendon-chalmers, I have two set screws in the LH bracket and one in the RH. Hopefully, three will be sufficient. Someone else will have to answer your question about putting a 48" beneath a FDT but I think the answer is yes. The diameter relates to the PTO type. There is a difference in deck pulley diameters between the RBT cone clutch and FDT pulley PTO types. Thanks all,

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
