Tire Size questions

RipRat

Recommended Posts

I am restoring my Broadmoor 728, and I came across various tire sizes for the front tires. The Goodyear tire that came off the front rims was a 5.30 X 4.50 - 6 I know the -6 means 6 inch rim, but what do the other numbers mean? Tires unlimited sells a Carlisle Stud tire that is 410-350-6. Is that compatible or should I keep looking to a tire that is the same?

The Broadmoor spec sheet calls for a 5.30x4.50-6, I would look for that exact size if I were you. I asked a similar question and was told to look for the proper size.

This explanation of reading the sizes, from Miller Tire's FAQ page, may help understand the differences in the sizes you mentioned. http://www.millertire.com/ "HOW TO READ YOUR TIRE SIZE… If your tire size has two sets of numbers (6-12, 5.00-15, 11.2-24…) the first number (5.00-15) is the approximate width in inches; the second number (5.00-15) is the rim diameter. If your tire size has three sets of numbers (15/6.00-6, 26/12.00-12, 31/15.50-15) the first number (26/12.00-12) is the approximate height, the second number (26/12.00-12) is the width, and the third number (26/12.00-12) is the rim size."
