richp 0 Posted October 6, 2007 I have had several hydro tractors, and not one had a working lock for the hydro lever. They never have that little ball bearing in them. Is this common that they fall out? I have to hold the lever on my 4040 to keep constant speed. Do I have to go to Simp, or can I get a specific bearing ball? BLT 715 Posted October 6, 2007 Looks like 1/4" bearing ball will do it. I used to smash bearings o get the balls for my Whamo sling shot.
mendon-chalmers 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Hello I believe the ball bearing in that 4040 is 5/16 can get at ace hardware smaller tractors are 1/4.
richp 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Is there a procedure for installing them?
mendon-chalmers 0 Posted October 6, 2007 Hello I think I just had the lever a bit forward of neutral squeezing the lock like your moving the lever & pulling it away from the steering wheel a little bit & pushed the ball in from the back & it fell right in the hole may have had to use a small punch to push it but I don't think so. RayS 79 Posted October 6, 2007 The ball bearing is part number 166178 and is 5/16 diameter. And is the same in the B series and the 3415H. Any desent hardware store would carry them.
