dav 2 Posted November 11, 2007 as part of the 'haul', i got parts in their original boxes or small envelopes. they have part numbers on them, sometimes still readable, and descriptions. but...there is always a catch...i dont have a parts list telling me what they fit. i tried the 'parts and manuals' section of the sim page but it doesnt do what i had hoped. the examples i used were; type in part number 1605325 which i know is a gasket. no match and 1604766 which i know is an hour meter. a table shows up that tells me the vendor number is 1604766 and the ac part number is 1604766. what i want is something to tell me what it fit in or on. the hour meter fit some 914s i think so i want something that tells me that. does such a cross-reference exist? still got no idea what the 1605325 fits. most of the parts are AC labels. i havent started on the B&S parts yet but is there a reference for them the same way? if i type in B&S 299097, which is a carb kit, will it tell me what motor it goes to? i've got about a hundred parts to sort out so i hope someone can steer me to a method to doing this thanks
ehertzfeld 1 Posted November 11, 2007 For the Briggs parts, you can try Napa's web site. They have a place to type in non Napa numbers. I use it all the time.
wilm169 1 Posted November 11, 2007 I think if you go to jacks small engines, the parts set up he has will do it for you, but not sure. My dealer has it on his computer that way. If you can find a SMART PARTS disc form a dealer it should do it. Briggs also has something to this effect.
Chris727 1,851 Posted November 11, 2007 Jacks has Empart , I don't think it has that capability but I could be wrong. It seems there are so many tractors or engines that certain parts could fit, they would not be able to list all the applications. When I got my NOS AC parts over the winter, I had trouble with identifying them, Kent has posted an AC to Simplicity parts # cross-ref list, and the AC parts manuals had a numerical index in the back, so if you think you know what it fits, then check the index of that machine's manual.
