Wards Power-Trac

Recommended Posts

I picked up a Montgomery Wards Power-Trac 2 wheel tractor last weekend and am looking for more information about it. I can't read the model numbers. It doesn't have handle bars. I found a couple pictures online from a 1950's Wards catalog and it looks like this is suposed to have a tube going from the back of the tractor to a rear axle with a steel seat that the operator rides on. There's also a steering wheel that turns the back wheels. I couldn't find any model numbers though. If anyone has a tractor like this and can provide me with some model numbers or a scanned copy of the manuals that'd be great.

I believe the apparatus you are speaking of was an option, I have seen them for both Simplicity and David Bradley tractors. How about a picture of what you have ? I believe it is only a Simplicity of a different color, and some of the Wards have Wisconson engines does yours?

Hi, I remember seeing them in the Wards Farm Catalogs. I had a transaxle and part of the frame for one. It used the same tranny as the 2 whl tractor with the 3spd gear shift lever. I believe the units with the Wisconsin engines were made by Midland, after Mr Neidercorn (Sim) founder) decided not to supply Wards any more to compete with dealers. This is the story we were told at the Simplicity 75th anniversary get together in Milwaukee. At this time Wards switched to Midland for a supplier. I believe some of the attachments will interchange. Particularly the front mounted ones. The Midland units had cast iron control levers with balls on them about 2 1/2 inch in diameter. Al Eden

See, there you go! Information from someone that actually knows something!8D I always wondered what the link was with Midland, I have a chassis of one that has the control levers you speak of. Otherwise it looks like my Simplicity tractors.

Hello glad I got on this site. I hope to upload a couple of photos of my Simplicity Broadmoor
Model 707 Tractor. I have replaced all the belts on it and installed a new ignition switch.
Have a mower deck which was in poor shape , repaced a couple of bushings and welded the
deck where there was some holes. The tractor and mower deck came from a friend and the
mower deck metal was getting pretty thin. Some new metal was put in it and we also undercoated the underside of the deck. This was done by my friend Greg Toulman.
I have not put the mower deck on the tractor yet, waiting for Greg to come home and give me a hand. Can you please tell me if there is a manual for the mower deck and where I could get one.
I would also like to get some moon wheel discs as well.
I will try and down load some photos of the tractor when my wife shows me how to.
I really love driving this tractor and also how well it is made compare today's tractors, especially the flexible rear end and the rollers.
      Tell the next time
      Paul
