Simplicity Silverline-Whatzit?

Greg, that Sovereign (assuming somebody's not even further off-base) might just be a 'buy'. But make sure that it's rebuildable as there are no short-blocks for that Briggs. And look over the 'variable' as well as you can without running, because parts are a little difficult and expensive.

Greg, From my experiance when a cast iron Briggs throws a rod it doesn't damage the block, but you will probably need a new crank shaft. Also the rod may damage the internal governer parts and may have nicked the camshaft. I don't know the availability of these parts. Tim

Greg I would guess that this is a typo or cannot read (illegible) the name on the tractor. Should be "Soveriegn". Everything else sounds like a Soveriegn. A guess by MS.

Mike,
Good point. I needed to use a bit more imagination.
I may just go look at this one.

Fred and Tim,

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't too sure how rebuildable that engine might be. I figured it would be a good excuse to at least get inside the engine, but I wouldn't have been surprised if it needed a new one. If replacing the engine would be a problem, because of fitment, then I guess it wouldn't be a good idea. Besides, not being able to spin the blades and check out the xmission is chancey too. I think I'll wait for something that runs.
