MarkM1958 1 Posted December 16, 2007 I would have posted this in "commonly asked questions" but I have no link to post... Looks like I've got a mouse problem. Went to go plowing today and found a nest!!! And now it won't start. NO POWER TO ANYTHING. Didn't see any chewing as of yet, but might as well replace the old wiring harness anyway. Its a Simp. 7117, can find #'s if needed but I think the part #'s are the same on all 7117's. I've replaced the key switch a couple of yrs ago, but if this one will fit I might buy it, its close to home, http://cgi.ebay.com/SIMPLICITY-KEY-SWITCH-31-2922_W0QQitemZ160190937239QQihZ006QQcategoryZ50377QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem My questions are, is this the right key switch and where can I find a wiring harness??? Happy plowing!!!
bigdog46 2 Posted December 16, 2007 No, that is not the correct key switch. You need part no. 1607280. Don't know about a wiring harness. Good luck.
UCD 14 Posted December 16, 2007 Check the circuit breaker and safty switch behind the battery and gas tank. Had the same problem with my 7117 this spring but it wasn't mice it was chipmunks.
Willy 2 Posted December 16, 2007 I had a mouse chew the insulation off my plug wire, it was under the eng.shroud so I didn't see it until I pulled it off.
Al 6 Posted December 18, 2007 Hi, When I stored my boat in an airport hanger, in the Spring, I had an awful mess of mouse fertilizer etc. I had put some DeCon in the boat before I covered it. The last 4 or 5 years, I put about 15 or 20 sheets of Bounce Fabric Softener around in the boat 24 ft Cuddy. Since doing this I have seen no trace of mice. Won't say it is the answer, but it has worked for me. I am interested in talking to anyone that, could or would be interested in exploring the possibility of synthesizing this material the smell or whatever so it could be put in a spray can so one could spray it through the flywheel screens of engines and other equipment and combine cabs etc and hopefully keep the mice out of engines etc in storage. I see a great opportunity in this area. I have toooo much on my plate at 69 to get involved in another venture. It would probably result in my wife getting me a lobotomy for Christmas. RedbarnRick 3 Posted December 19, 2007 Al, Try Irish Spring soap, I had mice in the boat, my wife's trailer, and under the shroud of one engine, my wife bought a giant package at costco and for two years now no mice, I just open the end of the box and leave the bars in it. It works great and they're reusable.
RedbarnRick 3 Posted December 19, 2007 MarkM, Check under the shroud of the engine, they love that spot.
