Chris727 1,860 Posted December 17, 2007 Hi. I've been working on the BGB out of the early B-10, am getting ready to put in the new needle bearings and the book says to put them in with the flat side up. Is this when looking at the outside of the box or the inside? It looks like they can be driven in either way. Thank You. Chris
MPH 12 Posted December 17, 2007 I'd take "up" as meaning the outside of the case since that's the direction you'll be installing them from. Been a long time since I've looked at one but if one side is tapered I'm saying that's to help start it in the hole straight.
RayS 79 Posted December 17, 2007 I installed the ones that i rebuilt with the flat side facing the outside of the box.
LPH-5 0 Posted December 17, 2007 I read where the name on the needle bearing should be facing out (which is the flat side) like the name torrington, good luck
