powermax_paul 1 Posted February 23, 2001 Eat your hearts out guys.......... Thursday night South Jersey had a typical snow storm. 6" of perfect snow, not too wet - not too dry - perfect for building snowmen and snowballs. Friday the temperature went well above freezing, and our roads are now clear and dry.......... Perfect..!! All 6 grandkids came over Friday morning and were surprised to learn that Santa had mistakenly delivered some of their Christmas presents to my house....... Snow shovels for all. After we shoveled the steps and walk, we formed a "train" of sleds and my 7012 pulled them around for a few hours. Then my 7010 with the Sweepster went to work. I updated my page with some action pix.[A href='http://home.att.net/~herb.niewender/sweepster/sweepster.htm']http://home.att.net/~herb.niewender/sweepster/sweepster.htm[/a]
Les 4 Posted February 24, 2001 Kent, if you mean the one advertised by club member Tim Smith in May, August, and November of last year... Yes, that's it. I don't know how I missed the first two ads, but I bought it in November. Tim is a really nice guy. He gave a very truthful and accurate description of the condition, and I had a fun day going to pick it up.
Kent 435 Posted February 24, 2001 Herb, Thanks! When you said this was the first time you used it, I thought it might be, since these things aren't all that common. I just deleted Tim's old ads.... Just sweeping up! LOL Kent
dlcentral 1 Posted February 24, 2001 Herb, looks very cool, but I could'nt help but notice the Vac on the back. Were you vacuuming what the brush didn't get? http://home.att.net/~herb.niewender/sweepster/14.jpg
Les 4 Posted February 24, 2001 Terry, You're very observant. I just got the vac and it's not hooked up yet. Did you notice I'm smoking a cigar? I'm using the vac as an ashtray.........
Les 4 Posted February 24, 2001 Hey Herb, how do you power that sweeper, front PTO? Was that sweeper built for a Simplicity?
Les 4 Posted February 24, 2001 Les, Yes it was built by Sweepster for an Simplicity or AC. Actually the broom part will fit anything, the Sweepster hitch is for a Simplicity. I'm sure Sweepster uses the same broom and makes hitches to fit other tractors as well. Don't need a PTO. I just installed a plain pulley on the engine crankshaft. The Sweepster hitch has a built in clutch, so a separate PTO is not needed. Check out the pix below and you'll see how it works. Kent 435 Posted February 24, 2001 Herb, is the the Sweepster that's listed in the For Sale ads by chance? After the ice buildup from this winter's frequent snows and the 1/2" that the snowblower always leaves, I can see the value of sweeping to clean pavement.... Les 4 Posted February 25, 2001 Where I work, we have been using an AC 1920 with a Sweepster for many years. With all of liability issues it is the only thing that keeps the sidewalks to the parking lot clean and dry. Mike.
