vari-drive tension turnbuckle

Recommended Posts

Guest
While working on my transmission, I noticed a peculiar thing about the main tension turnbuckle. It has a barrel and two threaded ends. I would expect the end pieces to be opposite threads so that they would extend or contract together as the barrel was rotated. But on my unit the ends are both RH threaded so that rotating the barrel has no effect on the overall length, the barrel just travels up one end and down the other till it comes apart. What gives? Is this correct or are my pieces mismatched? Thanks for any help in advance! Bud
