GASOLINE - UNLEADED OR LEADED

In the operation manual for this Briggs & Stratton engine I read the following; Briggs & Stratton OPERATING & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS MODELS 243431 to 243434 2. FILL FUEL TANK - Use clean, fresh, lead-free or leaded "regular', grade automotive gasoline. Fill tank completely! DO NOT MIX OIL WITH GASOLINE. Q: Is it advisable to run the engine on unleaded gasoline (without adding leadextract)? Here in Sweden it is difficult to find anything else than unleaded gasoline nowadays. Sincerely Magnus Forssell (of Sweden)

Magnus, Here in the US, leaded gasoline is also obsolete. In my operators manual for my Simplicity 9020, it recommends removing the heads and cleaning out the lead deposits before switching to unleaded. These deposits can cause harmful pre-ignition. My engine is an Onan, but I would assume that the same holds true for a Briggs. Say hey to my relatives in Norway! Paul Kjorlie
