Well gang, I figured out why I couldn't get the hood open on my newly restored 700. Seems as though the lip around the hood is supposed to go in front of the cowl and that little piece of flat stock with the two bolts rests on top of it. Here I was trying to close it with the lip BEHIND the cowl! I guess that explains why the throttle kept hitting the edge of the hood when it was wide open too! :-o

Worst part about your whole ordeal besides feeling stupid is that we can all sympathize with you and that you probably scratched the paint on your newly restored tractor. Now that would get a guy mad.
