LesH Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 I have several electric 12 Volt PTO clutches on my workbench and am trying to test them. Are there any general rules on testing them?? On all there are 2 wires coming out to a connector. Could it hurt them if hooked up "wrong"?? Thanks in advance.
MowerMechanic Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 daves right, doesnt matter how they are hooked up. Good rule of thumb when testing electrical is if you see smoke something wrong:D:D
firefoxz1 Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 First would be a check for a short to ground(wires to clutch), then resistance of the coil(between the wires). If there is no short and the coil is not open and shows some resistance then I would hook them up and see if they close.
