SimpleTom Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Just got this home. I have known about it for quite some time. Here is what is looked like when I first saw it. This is what it looks like in my driveway. I didn't think it had the original grill. Just needs a hood (and carb). The deck. I'm planning on restoring this one for sure. Pressure washed it and used a degreaser. I used to use Simple Green but I found this stuff. It disolves any grease on contact and it also seems to neutralize the surface rust. Take a look at the wheels in the before pics then look at these pics. Tom
perry Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 gotta love it when you find a garden mark 8D GREAT SAVE !^
Roy Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Hydro Garden Mark. Excellent score. Like the seat too. ^
B-16_IC Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 A garden Mark with hydro-lift! Great save, well done! Looking forward to the restore.:D
Simpleton7016 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Whoa....that one is at or near the top of my list of "crown jewels". In fact, Bob and I were just talking about that model last Friday. Nice score! Let me know if you run across another one. So sweet!!
MikeG Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Nice score Tom, I always thought that the seat on my 725 was from a MW Garden Mark and now I know for sure. Looks like a fairly easy restoration, cleaned up real good.
memphis Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I see it has that rare "third brake light" option too!sm00
firefoxz1 Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Looks restorable to me8D. Been using Super Clean for years, I love it for cleaning oily, greasy messes:D. Never really noticed any rust nuetralizing effects but haven't really looked, Although it does clean that flash rusting off I get sometimes after electrolysis.
rsachs Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Very nice score Tom... That is the first Squire I have seen with hydro lift. Looks like 3 original tires. The black seat really looks better to me with the gold/bronze paint than the white that was original on mine. Should be able to get a hood pretty easy, but matching the paint might be a bit tricky.
SimpleTom Posted June 29, 2008 Author Posted June 29, 2008 The original engine runs but I chose to swap it out with a 10hp of the same vintage that has great compression and runs like a champ. Got it all together this morning and it drives great and the hydro lift works fantastic! Tom
