I’ve been thinking of getting some hearing protectors with AM & FM radio and would like some input of what kind to get. There are some at Amazon and found these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170105382751&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=007. Is the Peltor one of the better ones with out spending a fortune?

With the music on the radio these days I would forget the radio.:D For $96.50 I would buy another tractor and use ear plugs.}:)

I think mine were only 29.95 and they work real good, they were from Racing Electronics, AM/FM and amplified scanner or ipod input.

Wayne, I have had two pair of these different makes. The first was only an FM pair and the one I have now is AM/FM. Can't remember the price but well under the $90 you are looking at. I think WorkTunes are a good brand and you can find them on ebay and at ACE hardware locally. I did not get good reception with the first pair but that was because of where I lived at that time and only FM. They were a cheaper pair and sere very directional. I used both pair while on my 712 and also while shooting hand guns. Both worked great for sound control. Dan

Peltor is an excellent brand of plain muffs--I cannot comment on the radio-equipped models. My Peltors (I have 3 pair) reduce noise by 29 or 30 dba, per the accompanying literature. They may be made in Sweden, IIRC. I also seem to remember you can also buy specific Peltor models for the equipment you're running--i.e., chainsaws vs. something of a lower frequency. Grainger can order them. I don't know about buying them from ebay--that might not be my first choice. Good luuck.

I would save some money for another tractor. I have many pairs of the AO Safety worktunes, which have served me well without a problem. They seem to block out most of the noise from a mower, while giving you comfort; (oh yes and the style). No one gets on a mower on my lawn crews without a pair on or hearing protection of some kind. Just make sure your settings dont get jarred with the vibration and rough terrain. And then watch who uses them otherwise you might ended up listening to that blasted rap that no one can understand a single word. Check this pair out... http://cgi.ebay.com/AO-Safety-Worktunes-by-Peltor-am-fm-radio-hearing-muffs_W0QQitemZ250264126649QQihZ015QQcategoryZ53152QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 I could have swore I seen them cheaper than what its listed here, but my memory fails to remember where. The ones that are made for AO Safety is made by peltor by my understanding

Went to Grand Forks and checked a few places. Home of economy had a set for 59.99 and this coming week Acme electric is having them on sale for 59.99. Figure that out? Menards had a different brand I haven’t heard of. Went to Lowe’s and picked up the AO Safety work tunes for 52.00 with a four pack of batteries. Used them today mowing and it sure makesdOd a difference. Can hardly hear the mower! They are a little directional here. I was listening to FM. Didn’t try the am today but I did program in KFGO out of Fargo when I put the batteries in. I do like the digital so you can see the stations and program them. Should have had those years ago!

Hey MN_Fish, I had the Dial tuned Peltor work tunes for about 2 years before they gave out (left out in the rain too many times to count). Just got the digital tuned version at Lowes and am enjoying them. Nice to not knock them off station every time you bump up against something. I even sprang for the eveready lithium batteries so they last longer. Enjoy yours.

I use a set of David-Clark ear protectors over a set of ear-bud earphones with a MP3 player/radio. The DCs are a little pricy at first but they are way softer around the cup seals which adds up at the end of the day(I work with air tools in a building full of them all day).
