Brent_Baumer Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Hi all. I used to be a regular on here (see post count) but lack of time, other interests and priorities have kept me mostly out of "tractoring" for quite a long time. Anyhow, one of the goodies I acquired from Biggie*Rat a few years ago was a Buccateer front scoop. It was a bit rusty with some pitting when I got it but I completely blasted, primed and painted it. I've only seen this one in person, and only a few more in photos on here so they are not that plentiful. Anyone know what they are going for these days? Like I said, I've been out of this hobby for awhile and don't know what attachments are worth anymore. I don't want to just put it on ebay and "let 'er ride". Thanks. Brent_Baumer Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Oh, yeah. I looked at the johnnybucket jr. which this is comparable in function to, only it is original equipment, and the price has really gone up on those if I am understanding the johnnyproducts website. Looking at $750 plus shipping for a new johnnybucket jr. Mine is more collectable but in used condition obviously. Since it is closer to the frame I would expect you could lift more weight with the Buccateer than the johnnybucket jr. thanks.
PeppyDan Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 My guess is scrap price}:), when should I come to pick it up! Seriously though, do you have any other loader/scoop type attachments on anything else. Once you sell it it may be much more costly to get something back and they become more handy the older you get. I have a "Dandy bucket" (read Johnny bucket)and it seems that every year I find more ways for it to make my life easier. There will come a time when the kids start taking less time or want to do some projects that this will assist in. Just my ten cents worth(with fuel prices I figured you needed more than two cents worth). Dan
Brent_Baumer Posted June 30, 2008 Author Posted June 30, 2008 Yeah, I've considered that Dan. I don't have a loader per se' but Dad has a Ford/New Holland 2120 4WD w/ loader and he just lives "down the road". Not a big tractor but still waaaay bigger than even a Powermax. For the small earth moving I do I can handle it with a wheelbarrow pretty easy. Just thinking of making some room by getting rid of the stuff I don't use and I haven't used this bucket for quite awhile, although it does work great for what it is intended for. Still mulling it. I may keep it. It was most handy when I could dedicate it to a tractor so I never had to take it off and back on. Not doing much yard work anymore now that the kids are bigger and in track, cross country, scouts, 2 baseball teams, three 4H clubs and shoot competetive archery plus more. Lucky to mow the grass once a week.
stevenj Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 Brent, Now you decide you want to sell it.;) I purchased a Buccateer bucket for a John Deere 140 on e-bay for $257.00. Another similar style Buccateer bucket for a John Deere sold on e-bay last year for $150.00. And yet another one for a John Deere 400 with a hydraulic lift cylinder sold on e-bay for $335.00. It cost me about $400.00 in steel and parts to build a copy of your Buccateer bucket. Last fall there was a used Johnny Bucket on e-bay with power dump that sold for $400.00. Hope this helps.
Brent_Baumer Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 stevenj - mind is not made up yet, but if I do sell, I won't be "giving" it away. This is both useful and collectable and $257 won't remove it from my possession. Never saw the end result of your efforts. Did you post up pics when you finished your bucket?
Burntime Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 I bet that if you held out someone would give you 350-400 for it if they had a job where it saved them rental of equiptment...
