Ethanol

All the repair shops in my area are seeing a dramatic increase carburetor related problems that seem to be due to higher ethanol levels in the fuel. The only sure fix requires replacing the old fuel lines with new ethanol resistant ones. Did the percentage of ethanol get increased lately or is this something that has been building up for quite some time?

Depends on your State. MN has a 10% corn crap requirement. They did allow some stations to sell high octane fuel that does NOT contain ethanol for use in antique cars/boats etc.

Around here in the midwest the ethanol blend is a bit cheaper, so I am sure some people are running it now that shouldn't. I have run it in near everything I own since it came out, my junk has mostly been carburated, I usually go through a carb when I first get it and also replace all old rubber lines. Ethanol really softens that old junk up fast, shows you the weakest link as far as I am concerned.;)
