720 front PTO

The front PTO on the 720 cuts out quite often. Any suggestions? My thoughts are leaning toward the charging system. It draws approximately 3-5 amps when on, but does no go positive when not running. However, it still cuts out with a fully charged battery. Where should I start to diagnose this problem?

Adjust the plate to .010 If that don't work check the plug in at the clutch and under the dash.

not sure what you mean by "does no go positive". If you mean there is no voltage present at the coil, then the problem is wiring. If you mean it doesn't draw current could be wiring or the coil itself cutting out. A good test would be to provide an alternate source of +12V to the coil (WITH A FUSE) and see if it still cuts out. Before you buy a new coil, verify you've got a good ground. Good luck with it. Nice tractor. -Don
