Does anyone have an idea of what may be wrong with a 416 hydro that runs out strong and smooth forward but wont climb a hill in reverse. And I mean it wont even go up a slight incline. This is a tractor that is for sale and I am not sure if I should run the other way or not.I dont want to have to get in the hydro but it sure would be nice to be able to back out of hole if need be. Thanks

I would check the linkages for wear or to see if binding somewhere. And check the neutral adjustment. I also believe someone stated they had simular problem and it was loose bolts on the BGB and side plates. http://simpletractors.com/club2/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=76694

I agree with RayS about the linkage. This would have a vickers hydro in it and it is somewhat normal for the linkage to be worn. With the hydro working good in the forward motion it is unlikely that there is any thing wrong with the hydro. Dan
