Engine retrofit questions

I don't post much but I am a regular reader here and all the talk of hydrostatic drives and hydro lifts has given me the bug to acquire a large frame tractor with those features. I picked up a 7117 a couple of months ago from Ambler that needed an engine.

The original plan was to play musical engines with the Kohler 341S that I put in my 7010 six speed last year and put the K241S waiting on my bench back in the 7010. I hated to mess with a tractor that I use often so I tried to contact the guy I bought the K341S from last year. I left a voice message and got a return call from his brother saying that he has a couple of the K341S just like the one I bought last year. And the price is still $150 for a complete runner with carb, starter, and even a muffler(not the muffler in the picture).

Now the question: I need a couple of parts but don't know exactly what I need. What is the adapter called that bolts to the flywheel and then has the flex disc bolted to it? What length drive shaft do I need? And if anyone in the Atlanta area wants a 16hp K341S, I know where there are several for only $150 each. PM me and I will pass on the contact info for the guy that has them. Thanks, Greg

Service manual for my 4040 calls it a PTO coupling. Parts manual calls it a just a coupling. I would describe it as a "flex disc coupler".

Greg, Done a few of these repowers. I have the flywheel adapter you need, and probably a longer driveshaft as well-need to check. Have other spare parts and tractors as well if you need any. I think the shaft needs to be 2" longer for a single VS twin but need to confirm. Do you have the OEM shaft and rubber coupler? I'm about 50 miles North of Atlanta right off I75. Brent

Thanks for the responses. Brent, I have the original shaft,

but the coupler and flex disc were missing. I don't have any rubber pieces that look like they could be a coupler. I thought this generation of tractor used a fiberglass disc? I'm just outside Athens and would be glad to come your way if you can spare the parts I need. Thanks, Greg
