3212V PTO Drive Belt

My 3212V PTO has a 4.5" OD pulley on the BGB and a 4" OD on the PTO. The specified belt is P.N. 157683 (28.2" long). This belt appears to be too long. By the time the idler pulley has taken most of the slack out of the belt the idler pulley is rubbing the BGB pulley. Looks like the correct belt should be 1" or 2" shorter. My questions are: What OD should the BGB pulley be? What OD should the PTO pulley be? Thanks,

I checked my 3210v and it has all the same measurements. Is the tension spring on the pto all hooked up?Also did anybody play with the adjustments? Nick

I noticed the same thing on my 3212V...then I put the deck on, pulled the tensioner lever back and all was well with the world. Seems there's a middle ground between the deck belt tension and the mid PTO tension where as one needs the other to come into line. Not sure if you have already tried this, but it's what I found with my set up. You can't have one with out the other so to speak. Let us know!

Nick, "did anybody play with the adjustments?" Just me. Got the tractor in two halves and 4 boxes of parts. Zippo, You may have a good point since the PTO swings on a different pivot point from the BGB shaft. Will look into your suggestion since I haven't mounted a mower deck yet. Thanks,

Zippo may well have your answer Roy. Tring to find the right combo for my 3314 qith modified unknown deck left me with a few extra belts around.

Marty, Do you remember what size belt you ended up with? Think it is strange that the attachment belt would affect the size of the PTO belt. C:O?

Roy, In my experience, Sean has the answer. Both my 3112v and B-210 (before the cone-clutch conversion) were as you describe. The center PTO pivots enough, once the mower deck is on (with belt in place) and the rear tension spring engaged, that it tightens up the PTO engagement belt. My suggestion is not to worry, until you have an attachment mounted. Then, see what you have.

"My suggestion is not to worry, until you have an attachment mounted. Then, see what you have." I agree and have reached that conclusion. Just don't remember having such a problem with my B-1 or 725. CRS maybe?? Thanks to all, especially Sean.

Maybe you are just over thinking things now:D

"Maybe you are just over thinking things now" Could be. Sometimes I tend to try too hard to make sure things are mechanically and electrically correct without worrying too much about their appearance. :) Or, as OWHN says, sometimes I don't know when to quit. :D

Kinda hard to say what I have on there for sure Roy. Have two deck belt packages, one says 50x1/2 the other 50 5/8 x 13/64. I believe running with a 13/64 x 26 7/8 pto belt. I have quyit a pile of belts. Burned up the bearing in the idler once, only thing I found was a bit bigger in dia, which caused a need for longer belts so it wouldn't rub the bgb pulley, that one crapped out so I found an oem pto one on my blue B-1 and bought more belts. As the length of one affect the other a man could go bald getting it too work when non matching parts are used.:D

Zippo, Marty, and Kent were correct. With the mower deck mounted and mower belt installed the PTO adjusted correctly and works fine. Book calls for a 47.5" long mower drive belt. All I had on hand was a 46" which works but is a tad too short. Will have to pick up a 47" belt. May also add an extension link to the PTO extension spring. Seems to tight to me. Did the same thing to my B-1 a long time ago. Thanks all,
